目的：
Purpose:
本国際ワークショップの目的は、国立民族学博物館が現在実施中の「人類の文化資源に関するフォーラム型情報ミュージアムの構築」プロジェクトに関して、情報生成型データベースのシステム構築に向けた技術と、民族学博物館とソースコミュニティとの協働環境作りに向けた基本理念を検討することである。
北米では民族学博物館が所蔵する民族誌資料やアーカイブ資料をソースコミュニティとともに熟覧し、その過程で得られた豊かな情報や知識をデジタル化してオンライン発信するデータベースがすでに構築・運用されている。例えばスミソニアン協会国立自然史博物館極北研究センター・アラスカセンターが運用する『Sharing Knowledge』、ブリティッシュコロンビア大学の人類学博物館が中心となって運用している『Reciprocal Research Network』、米国先住民のズニ博物館を中心に実施した『Amidolanne』などである。
民博が現在進めているフォーラム型情報ミュージアムプロジェクトの理念は、ここに挙げたいくつかのプロジェクトを参考としながら大枠を固めてきた。しかしながら、協働性、情報生成性、オンライン環境におけるセキュリティやインターフェースといったデータベースシステムのキーとなる内容については、個別具体に検討してきたため相互の連携が比較的弱い。また、多言語による情報発信と非言語による情報検索、そして協働環境作りの次のステップである教育プログラムの開発などの点は、世界でもあまり実施事例がなく、多くの可能性を秘めている。
こうしたフォーラム型情報ミュージアムの構築と運用の課題と可能性を検討するために、ソースコミュニティと民族学博物館との協働の分野において、技術的にも思想的にも中心的な役割を担っている専門家を北米と欧州から招聘し、各々が携わってきた協働事業やシステム構築・運用に関する事例報告を行う。その上で民博のフォーラム型情報ミュージアムプロジェクトの全体的な方向性やこれまでの成果を事例としながら文化人類学や情報学や博物館学など学際的かつ多角的に検討し、新たな展開を図り、その実現につなげていく。
The purpose of this workshop is twofold: to examine a technical aspects of the system development and to discuss a basic idea called the creating of collaboration environment. Both of them will focus on the Project of Info-Forum Museum being implemented at the National Museum of Ethnology, Japan (Minpaku).
In the North America, some ethnological museums have already done collection reviews with source communities on their ethnographical objects and archive collections. They digitized obtained information respecting the cultural sensitivities, which should not opened to the public, and built one-of-a-kind database. For example, these are: “Alaska Native Collections: Sharing Knowledge” developed by the Arctic Studies Center, Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, “Reciprocal Research Network” by UBC Museum of Anthropology, and “Amidolanne” created by the A:shiwi A:wan Museum and Heritage Center.
The idea of Info-Forum Museum was derived from the above-mentioned projects. Unfortunately, in case of Minpaku, the contents which were planned to be the key to its database system, such as collaboration characteristics, information generativity, security and the interface in the online environment, turned out relatively weak because the examinations were done only on separated and individual cases, neglecting to some extent the need for understanding an aspect of mutual cooperation between them.
In addition, looking globally, there are not many examples in the world to follow which enforce the multi-language information dispatch, the non-language information retrieval, and which expand the collaboration environment and its subsequent development of the educational programs. These capabilities are still hidden behind a wall of silence.
Therefore, Minpaku decided to invite experts from North America and Europe who take central roles in these collaborative activities to discuss challenges and possibilities of development and use which stand in front of the Info-Forum Museum.

Miguel Vale de Almeidaを司会、Deirdre Meintelをモデレータとして、オンライン上で文章を寄せることでディスカッションを行う。
参加者は英語、フランス語、ポルトガル語、スペイン語を使用することができ、特に翻訳を行わなずに多言語的環境での議論を展開する実験とする。

You are invited to participate in a conference of the Society for East Asian Anthropology of the American Anthropological Association, which will be held in Hong Kong on July 13-16, 2006. This meeting is a unique opportunity for East Asian anthropologists and anthropologists of East Asia to learn about recent research in their areas (both geographic and theoretical) and to create links with research in other East Asian countries.
The conference will include a diverse and multi-cultural community of anthropologists, both students and established scholars, and both academic and applied anthropologists.
This conference, which will be conducted in English, is jointly sponsored by the Society for East Asian Anthropology, the Department of Anthropology of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Anthropological Society. In late August, details will be provided about registration (forms for which will be downloadable), registration fees, housing (which will for the most part be on the CUHK campus near the conference venue), and paper and panel submissions; all of these will have a January 2006 deadline.

人類学はこれまで「異文化理解」において大きく貢献してきたが、その 理解はどのように社会に還元されるのか。今日、時代の流動の中で学問と社会との関係が問われている中で、アメリカの人類学者マーガレット・ミードの遺産を検証しつ つ、現代世界における人類学的知識の社会的活用について検討するのが本シンポジウムの目的である。具体的には、子どもとメディア、ジェンダー、民族誌映画の活用、 文化政策、開発といったテーマについて５つの分科会を行い、これらの分野で人類学の知見をどのように「公共領域」に開いていくのかを討議する。さらに、その結果を公開シンポジウム「現代世界の文化人類学：社会との連携を求めて」で集約し、聴衆 とともに考える。
